{"id":2609,"date":"2015-03-08T10:13:27","date_gmt":"2015-03-08T14:13:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=2609"},"modified":"2015-03-08T10:13:27","modified_gmt":"2015-03-08T14:13:27","slug":"a-tidal-shift-in-organizational-trust","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=2609","title":{"rendered":"A Tidal Shift in Organizational Trust?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=1005\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1005\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-1005\" src=\"http:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/TAATAW_LOGO_H_color-tagline-300x122.jpg\" alt=\"TAA_R2_EDIT-CS3\" width=\"300\" height=\"122\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some encouraging headlines for consumers, employees and the public&#8230;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>McDonalds<\/strong> is limiting the use of antibiotics in its chicken <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2015\/03\/07\/391520209\/mcdonalds-is-limiting-use-of-antibiotics-in-its-chicken\">according to NPR<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nestle<\/strong> says &#8220;Goodbye&#8221; to artificial colors <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2015\/03\/04\/opinion\/nestle-food-color-changes\/\">as reported by CNN<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Be it for the right or wrong reasons, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/timworstall\/2015\/03\/05\/the-fed-knows-why-walmart-raised-wages\/\"><strong>Walmart<\/strong> is raising its minimum wage<\/a>\u00a0as is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/tjx-to-boost-pay-for-u-s-employees-to-9-an-hour-1424873150\">TJX<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Capital One<\/strong> empowers Americans to close the digital skills gap by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20150305005223\/en\/Capital-Launches-150-Million-Initiative-Americans-Succeed#.VPxSYrPF_0Q\">committing $150 million in community grants<\/a><\/p>\n<p>When companies do more than just talk about the importance of &#8220;good business&#8221; and begin walking it with commitments like the above, it&#8217;s a good sign. From my perspective these announcements sound like more than just corporate window dressing.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s worth mentioning that McDonald&#8217;s has a brand new CEO and Walmart a relatively new one. Nestle is a Swiss company, and TJX is run by a woman. The CEO of Capital One, Richard Fairbank is also its founder.<\/p>\n<p>Building organizational trust is a &#8220;top down&#8221; business strategy. Sometimes it takes a new leader to bring a fresh perspective regarding the imperative\u00a0to build trust with all stakeholders. Other times tenure is more important, and recently it&#8217;s been <a href=\"http:\/\/fortune.com\/2015\/03\/03\/women-led-companies-perform-three-times-better-than-the-sp-500\/\">reported by Fortune <\/a>that women not only make better CEOs, but\u00a0perform 3X better than the S&amp;P 500.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever the reasons, I&#8217;m glad to read these headlines and hope more companies follow suit.
