“Be a role model”<\/strong><\/p>\n

A lot of things in business can be achieved through business cases, behavioral goals, and incentives.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Trust is not one of those things.<\/em><\/p>\n

When it comes to trust, we put outsized importance on integrity. A policy violation may be looked at askance, yet be quickly forgiven. A violation of trust, however, is not forgotten. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

In matters of trust, it\u2019s not what you say, it\u2019s what you do. \u00a0In no other realm is role-modeling more important. When someone acts in both trustworthy and trusting manners, we trust them. \u00a0But when someone says, \u201ctrust me,\u201d we automatically become suspicious. \u00a0And when a leader doesn\u2019t walk the trust talk, we don\u2019t hesitate to call them hypocrites.<\/em><\/p>\n

Be the trust you claim to want to see in your\u00a0organization. Be a role model<\/em>.<\/p>\n
