What are your plans for tomorrow?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Did you know that twice as many people call in sick on <\/span>Mondays <span style=\"color: #000000;\">as compared to<\/span> <span style=\"color: #008000;\">Fridays<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">?<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s 24.8% vs.12.8% according to a recent study conducted in the UK. And few would argue that employee absenteeism places pressure on productivity, morale AND the bottom line, but who&#8217;s keeping track?<\/p>\n<p>Putting reasons aside like sickness or a hurricane, the following common workplace occurrences are fueling Monday absenteeism:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Truth takes second place to personal and professional gain<\/li>\n<li>Accountability is expected but not practiced by management<\/li>\n<li>Short-term wins beat long-term purpose<\/li>\n<li>Talk and actions don&#8217;t match<\/li>\n<li>Only one voice matters and it&#8217;s not yours<\/li>\n<li>Moral character? What&#8217;s that?<\/li>\n<li>Closed doors and closed mindedness abound<\/li>\n<li>Hidden agendas stifle transparency<\/li>\n<li>Fear is rampant and rules &#8220;rule&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Failures are punished<\/li>\n<li>Honesty is not encouraged<\/li>\n<li>Shared values are non-existent<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Can you name the common thread running through these?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you guessed low trust you are correct, and it is present in almost every workplace. That&#8217;s the hardest part.
