Should you ever choose to think about the role trust plays on your team or in your organization, start by answering the question &#8220;Trust to do what?&#8221; and then consider the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">All leaders and their team members must <strong>take ownership<\/strong> and be proactive about trust. Trust must first be well defined, never taken for granted or only talked about after a crisis. More on this subject <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humansynergistics.com\/blog\/culture-university\/details\/culture-university\/2020\/05\/12\/creating-a-high-trust-culture-who-is-responsible\">at this link<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Trust is an <strong>outcome of principled behavior<\/strong> on the part of all leaders and team members. The weakest behaviors break the trust chain.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Leadership effectiveness should be evaluated by the <strong>internal environment of trust<\/strong> that has been created and maintained. <a href=\"https:\/\/trustacrossamerica.com\/workshops.shtml\">Learn how<\/a> you can evaluate it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Trust cannot be regulated or delegated<\/strong> to a &#8220;department.&#8221;\u00a0Without shared values that foster a culture of trust, leaders defer to legal and compliance to enforce rules. Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=2861\">&#8220;Trust: Going Beyond Compliance &amp; Ethics.&#8221;<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">No organization is sustainable without a <strong>foundation of trust<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=4287\">there are no shortcuts<\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Trust in leadership and among teams <strong>cannot be measured by public opinion polls<\/strong>.\u00a0Don\u2019t confuse <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=4604\">external \u201cperception of trust\u201d surveys<\/a> with internal surveys of trust.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A company cannot create <strong>authentic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=4463\">brand trust<\/a> <\/strong>without first building trust internally.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If you are a leader who is not willing to personally do the work to build trust,<strong> don\u2019t talk about it<\/strong> as if you are.\u00a0Read <a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?p=2893\">&#8220;Ten One Liners for the Low Trust Leader.&#8221;<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The only way to build trust is to <strong>behave your way into it<\/strong>.
