I tuned in yesterday for the first time in over two months, which prompted me to write this article.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> If you are currently residing in the US there is a good chance that you are choosing to get your news from either Fox or CNN, depending on your political views. From a trust perspective, does it matter at all which one you watch?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=4938\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4938\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4938 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trustacrossamerica.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Fox.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"190\" \/><\/a>The world&#8217;s citizens are suffering not only from 2020 COVID 19 fatigue, but also from the long-term fallout of a host of never ending global trust breaches in government and business. Unfortunately for all of us, the news does not appear to be improving, at least not what&#8217;s being reported. Since panic agendas seem to matter more to the media than facts, should we believe what is being reported? In other words, can the media be trusted? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">I decided to put the industry to the test using our universal <a href=\"https:\/\/trustacrossamerica.com\/tap-into-trust.shtml\">TAP Principles<\/a>. They\u00a0have now been accessed by almost 150,000 global professionals. Why don&#8217;t you do the same to determine if you should trust the media?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Take a minute to answer \u201cYes\u201d or \u201cNo\u201d to each of these questions:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Truth<\/b>&#8211; Is telling the truth more important to the media than a panic agenda or monetary gain?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Accountability<\/b>&#8211; Is the media holding itself accountable and taking responsibility regardless of affiliation?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Purpose<\/b>&#8211; Is the media engaging others to build shared purpose to avoid short-term wins?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Integrity<\/b>&#8211; Is the media committed to accuracy in pursuit of the facts?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Notice-<\/b> Is the media seeking out, listening to and reporting on diverse perspectives?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Talent<\/b>&#8211; Is the media rewarding moral character?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Openness<\/b>&#8211; Is the media open and ready to learn?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Transparency<\/b>&#8211; Is the media rejecting hidden agendas?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Respect<\/b>&#8211; Is the media respectful of each other?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Understanding<\/b>&#8211; Does the media not only celebrate its successes but also report on its failures?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Safety-<\/b> Does the media call out all unethical behavior and make it safe to be honest?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><b>Tracking<\/b>&#8211; Does the media scorecard their performance against their values?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">What was your final \u201cYes\u201d and \u201cNo\u201d answer count? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Can you think of any news media that would score a passing grade of 60% or more? <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Should we trust the media to report COVID 19 information accurately, or any news for that matter?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">And before you go, substitute the word \u201cmedia\u201d for \u201cgovernment\u201d and then \u201cbusiness\u201d and see if your results change.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Can our trust deficit be fixed?
